Symbolism
It's the ultimate symbol of prosperity in China. It has flat round leaves, and its compact shape makes it the Asian equivalent of a money tree. This evergreen plant has thick branches and smooth, rounded, fleshy leaves that grow in opposite directions.
Name Story
Elephant Bush: It has the name, not because of its appearance, it is due to its wild nature. Also, Elephants consume this plant, so it is called Elephant Bush.
Dwarf Jade: Although it is a shrub, it also comes with small succulent leaves similar to the Jade plant Crassula ovata, and as it’s too similar to the Jade plant, it is called the Dwarf Jade Plant.
Feng Shui
A major Feng Shui plant. It's a renowned good luck and Feng Shui money cure. It is an evergreen succulent, with Jade green coin shaped leaves which activates financial luck. A Jade Plant near the entrance of restaurants or shops, or in a southeast location brings prosperity and success.

The taste of spekboom leaves are pleasant but changes throughout as the sun rises and sets. During the day leaves have an acid flavor and they become less acidic towards the evening. The delicious greenery is heavily browsed by game and firm favorite of several wild animals, especially Elephants!
Portulacaria leaves are high in Vitamin-C, have a juicy crunch and make a nice salad garnish. They do taste sour. Eat green leaves only; those that are variegated are bitter.
