Areca Palm Care Guide

01 — GET TO KNOW IT

Meet Your Plant.

Meet the Areca Palm, a graceful tropical favourite admired for its elegant golden stems and delicate, arching fronds. Its lush, feather-like foliage creates a naturally soft, flowing silhouette, bringing warmth and a refreshing tropical character to interior spaces.

Native to Madagascar, this beautiful palm is particularly appreciated for its generous foliage and its ability to transform indoor corners into inviting green spaces. Its elegant appearance makes it a wonderful choice for adding height, texture, and natural movement to your home.

02 — AT A GLANCE

Your Care Essentials.

03 — LIGHT & PLACEMENT

Find Its Perfect Place.

The Areca Palm thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. A position near a bright window with filtered light encourages healthy growth and helps maintain its lush, green fronds.

It can tolerate some gentle morning sunlight, but strong direct afternoon sun may scorch the leaves and cause yellow or brown patches.

Although it can adapt to moderately lit interiors, prolonged low light may result in slower growth, thinner foliage, and a less full appearance.

Placement tip: Rotate your palm occasionally to encourage balanced growth and even foliage development.

04 — WATERING

A Little Care, Consistently.

The Areca Palm prefers lightly moist soil and does not appreciate prolonged dryness or waterlogged conditions.

Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry before watering again. Water thoroughly until excess water drains through the drainage holes, then empty the saucer.

During autumn and winter, watering frequency should be reduced as growth slows and the soil takes longer to dry.

Avoid allowing the root ball to remain completely dry for extended periods, as this can lead to dry, brown leaf tips.

Water Tip: Water with clean, room-temperature water. Rainwater or filtered water is preferred, especially in areas where tap water quality may vary.

05 — HUMIDITY & TEMPERATURE

Create a Tropical Haven.

The Areca Palm prefers warm indoor conditions, ideally between 18–27°C. Keep it away from cold drafts, air-conditioning vents, and direct heat sources.

As a tropical palm, it appreciates moderate to high humidity. Dry indoor air can contribute to brown leaf tips and edges.

If the air in your home is particularly dry, a humidifier placed nearby can help maintain more comfortable humidity levels.

06 — FEEDING

Support Healthy Growth.

The Areca Palm benefits from regular feeding during its active growing season.

Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser formulated for indoor plants approximately once every four weeks during spring and summer, following the product's dilution instructions.

Avoid excessive fertilisation, as accumulated salts can damage the roots and contribute to brown leaf tips.

Reduce or pause feeding during autumn and winter.

07 — Keeping Your Plant at Its Best

Care That Keeps It Thriving.

08 — TROUBLESHOOTING

Read the Signs.

Even with attentive care, Areca Palms may occasionally develop changes in their foliage. Identifying the cause early can help restore healthy growing conditions and maintain their graceful appearance.
