Aglaonema, commonly known as Chinese Evergreen, is admired for its beautifully patterned foliage, graceful form, and remarkable adaptability. 03 — LIGHT & PLACEMENT

Find Its Perfect Place.

Aglaonema prefers bright, indirect light but can adapt to lower-light conditions. Varieties with pink, red, or highly variegated foliage benefit from brighter indirect light to help maintain their vibrant colours. Rotate your plant every few days to expose all sides to light and encourage balanced, even growth.

04 — WATERING

A Little Care, Consistently.

Water your Aglaonema when the top 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) of soil feel dry. Water thoroughly until excess water drains from the bottom of the pot. Keep the soil lightly moist, but never waterlogged.

Water Tip: Water with clean, room-temperature water. Rainwater or filtered water is preferred, especially in areas where tap water quality may vary.

05 — HUMIDITY & TEMPERATURE

Create a Tropical Haven.

Aglaonema grows well in typical indoor humidity and prefers temperatures between 18–27°C. If the air is particularly dry, a humidifier can help maintain comfortable humidity levels. Keep your plant away from cold drafts, air-conditioning vents, and sudden temperature changes.

06 — FEEDING

Support Healthy Growth.

Feed once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser, diluted according to the product instructions. Reduce or pause feeding during autumn and winter.

07 — Keeping Your Plant at Its Best

Care That Keeps It Thriving.

Soil

Aglaonema grows well in a loose, moisture-retentive, well-draining potting mix. Use a quality indoor plant mix with added perlite to improve drainage and aeration.

Pruning & Maintenance

Remove yellowing, damaged, or dead leaves by cutting them close to the base of the stem with clean, sharp scissors. Wipe the leaves gently with a damp, soft cloth to remove dust and keep the foliage looking fresh. Rotate the pot occasionally to encourage balanced growth.

Repotting

Repot your Aglaonema every 2–3 years, or when its roots begin to outgrow the pot. Choose a pot slightly larger than the current one, with drainage holes, and use fresh, well-draining potting mix. Spring is the ideal time to repot.

08 — TROUBLESHOOTING

Read the Signs.

Your Aglaonema's leaves can reveal when its growing conditions need attention. Learn to recognise the signs and respond with the right care.

Yellowing Leaves

Yellowing leaves may indicate overwatering, poor drainage, or insufficient light. Check the soil before watering and ensure excess moisture can drain freely. Occasional yellowing of older leaves is also part of the plant's natural growth cycle.

Brown Leaf Tips or Edges

Brown, crispy tips may result from low humidity, inconsistent watering, or mineral buildup. Maintain consistent soil moisture, increase humidity if the air is particularly dry, and consider using filtered water.

Drooping or Curling Leaves

Drooping or curling leaves may indicate underwatering, excessive heat, or exposure to cold drafts. Check the soil moisture, adjust watering accordingly, and keep your Aglaonema in a stable, comfortable environment away from temperature extremes.
