01 — GET TO KNOW IT

Meet Your Plant.

Meet the Snake Plant, a remarkably resilient indoor favourite admired for its architectural form and distinctive foliage. It comes in two beautiful forms: the standard Snake Plant (Dracaena trifasciata), recognised by its flat, upright, sword-shaped leaves, and the Cylindrical Snake Plant (Dracaena angolensis), distinguished by its round, tubular leaves, which can grow upright or be arranged in decorative braids.

Both varieties bring sculptural beauty and effortless greenery to any interior. Their adaptability and low-maintenance nature make them excellent choices for both new and experienced plant lovers.

02 — AT A GLANCE

Your Care Essentials.

03 — LIGHT & PLACEMENT

Find Its Perfect Place.

Snake Plant adapts exceptionally well to different indoor lighting conditions, from low light to bright, indirect sunlight. It can also tolerate some direct sunlight when gradually acclimatised. For the best growth and strongest foliage, place it in a bright position with plenty of indirect light.

Although it survives in lower-light spaces, growth will be slower in dim conditions. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh afternoon sunlight, particularly if the plant has not been gradually introduced to it.

04 — WATERING

A Little Care, Consistently.

Snake Plant stores water in its thick, fleshy leaves, making it particularly tolerant of dry conditions. Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again.

When watering, do so thoroughly until excess water drains from the bottom of the pot. Empty the saucer and never leave the plant sitting in standing water, as excessive moisture can cause root and rhizome rot.

Reduce watering during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows. Always check the soil before watering rather than following a fixed schedule.

Water Tip: Water with clean, room-temperature water. Rainwater or filtered water is preferred, especially in areas where tap water quality may vary.

05 — HUMIDITY & TEMPERATURE

Create a Tropical Haven.

Snake Plant prefers temperatures between 18–27°C and adapts comfortably to average household humidity. It does not require additional humidity, making it particularly suitable for typical indoor environments.

Protect your plant from cold drafts, sudden temperature changes, and prolonged exposure to temperatures below 10°C. Avoid placing it directly beside air-conditioning vents or heaters.

06 — FEEDING

Support Healthy Growth.

Feed your Snake Plant every 2–3 months during spring and summer using a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser diluted according to the manufacturer's instructions. A cactus and succulent fertiliser is also suitable.

Avoid overfeeding, as excessive fertiliser can damage the roots. Reduce or pause feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.

07 — Keeping Your Plant at Its Best

Care That Keeps It Thriving.

08 — TROUBLESHOOTING

Read the Signs.

Learn to recognise the early signs of stress in your Snake Plant. Changes in leaf colour, texture, and structure can reveal when its growing conditions need attention. A few simple adjustments can help maintain its strong, architectural foliage.
