01. Your Quick Care Guide

☀️

Light

Bright, indirect light

💧

Water

Consistently moist soil with good drainage

☁️

Humidity

High humidity preferred

🌡️

Temperature

18–29°C

02. Light

The Majesty Palm thrives in bright, indirect light. Place it near a bright window where it receives plenty of natural light throughout the day. Gentle morning sunlight may be beneficial, but protect the fronds from harsh direct sunlight that can scorch the leaves.

If the foliage becomes pale or new growth appears weak and stretched, your palm may not be receiving enough light. Rotate the pot occasionally to encourage balanced growth on all sides.

03. Water

The Majesty Palm prefers consistently moist soil, but its roots should never sit in standing water. Check the top layer of soil regularly and water when it begins to dry. Water thoroughly until excess water drains from the bottom of the pot, then empty the saucer.

How often you water depends on the season, temperature, light, pot size and soil. Avoid following a rigid watering schedule; check the soil instead.

Choose your water carefully. Room-temperature water is suitable. If your tap water contains high levels of salts or fluoride, filtered, reverse-osmosis or rainwater may help reduce mineral buildup.

04. Humidity

Native to Madagascar, the Majesty Palm prefers humid conditions and may develop brown leaf tips in dry indoor air.

A humidifier near the plant is a reliable way to improve humidity. Keep the foliage free of dust by gently wiping the leaves with a soft, damp cloth. Misting may provide brief surface moisture, but it will not maintain high humidity on its own.

05. Temperature

The Majesty Palm prefers warm, stable indoor conditions. Aim for approximately 18–29°C and protect the plant from cold drafts, sudden temperature changes and direct heat from radiators or air-conditioning vents.

06. Feeding & Fertilizing

Feed your Majesty Palm during spring and summer, when growth is most active, using a balanced fertilizer formulated for palms or indoor foliage plants. Follow the product label for the recommended dilution and frequency.

Reduce or stop feeding during winter when growth slows. Avoid overfertilizing, as excess fertilizer salts can damage roots and contribute to brown leaf tips.

07. Common Problems & Solutions

Brown or crispy leaf tips

Possible causes include dry air, inconsistent watering, mineral buildup or excess fertilizer. Check soil moisture, review your water quality and assess the humidity around the plant before making changes.

Yellowing leaves

Yellowing can result from overwatering, underwatering, insufficient light or nutritional problems. Check the soil and drainage first rather than immediately adding fertilizer.

Spider mites

Inspect the undersides of the fronds for fine webbing or tiny moving pests. Isolate an affected plant and use a treatment labelled for spider mites and indoor plants, following its instructions.

08. Additional Care Tips

  • Check drainage: Use a pot with drainage holes and never leave the roots standing in excess water.
  • Clean the foliage: Gently wipe the fronds to remove dust and make pest inspections easier.
  • Inspect regularly: Check both sides of the leaves and the base of the fronds for signs of pests.
  • Avoid unnecessary supplements: Do not apply Epsom salts or iron routinely. Identify the likely cause of yellowing before using a supplement.
  • Be patient: Majesty Palms can be demanding indoors. Consistent light, moisture and humidity are more useful than frequent changes to their care routine.
