The Palm branch is a symbol of victory, triumph, peace and eternal life, originating in the ancient Near East and the Mediterranean world. The head of the Palm is visually comparable to our glowing sun-star, and so many symbolic meanings of the palm are related to solar attributes.
Hawaiian Palm: Brighamia insignis is an endemic Hawaiian species meaning this is the only place in the world where it is found. It grows on rocky ledges with little soil or steep sea cliffs from near sea level to about 748 m on the Napali Coast of Kaua`i.
In Feng Shui, Palm trees help keep one's wealth, bringing joy, hope, good luck to the owner. Therefore, ornamental Palm trees are often grown in offices or parks and gardens.
The Hawaiian Palm creates cabbage-like leaves and small, five-petaled flowers. It is noted for its delightful scent, which is said to resemble citrus or honeysuckle. Like so many native Hawaiian species, the Cabbage on a Stick is now considered critically endangered.
